After a slip, trip and fall expert is retained, the next steps depend on the scope of the engagement, available evidence, and technical questions involved in the case. The process may begin with reviewing case materials and discussing the circumstances of the incident with counsel. Depending on what is needed, additional work may include forensic research, examination of relevant standards or product information, a site inspection, measurements, testing, or analysis of the walking surface and surrounding conditions. The expert’s findings can then help counsel better understand the technical issues involved and determine what additional information may be important as the case develops. Elite Consultants’ involvement can range from behind-the-scenes consultation and case evaluation to a more formal expert-witness role. When required, later stages may include preparation of an affidavit, participation in a deposition, or trial testimony. The scope of work is determined by the specific needs of each matter.
